Offaly senior football team named for opening Tailteann Cup fixture

Offaly senior football joint managers Declan Kelly and Mickey Harte have named their starting team for the Faithful County's opening Tailteann Cup fixture with Wicklow in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on Saturday afternoon (throw in, 1.30pm).

Offaly have been placed in Group 2 of this year's competition and following Saturday's encounter will travel to Waterford for their second game before concluding their round robin run of fixtures against Laois at a neutral venue.

The reigning Allianz National Football League Division 3 champions suffered defeat to Meath in the quarter final of the Leinster senior football championship and will be hoping to return to their early season winning ways as their tilt at the Tailteann Cup commences.

The respective group winners will advance to the quarter final stage of the Tailteann Cup with the group runners-up and three out of the four group third placed teams and New York progressing to the preliminary quarter final phase.
