Tullamore Harriers athlete races for Ireland in World Relays Championships
Aaron Keane this afternoon made his Irish senior athletics debut when he ran as part of the Irish Mixed 4x400 team in the World Relays Championships in Guangzhou, China
The Irish team had already qualified for the World Athletics Championships Mixed 4x400m relays in Tokyo in September, by finishing second in their heat on Saturday thanks to the efforts of Conor Kelly, Rhasidat Adeleke, Cillin Greene, and Sharlene Mawdsley
Ireland followed in USA in the heat to secure one of the two automatic qualifying spots for the prestigious World Championships.
As a result, the team management reshuffled the pack for the final, with Keane coming in to run the third leg in the final.
The young Rosemount man, a member of Tullamore Harriers, performed impressively ducking under the 47 second mark (46.97) in the third leg of the relay as Ireland finished eighth in the final.
