From early morning there was a sense of excitement as the area buzzed with both participants and supporters getting ready for the event. The race provided people with an opportunity to come in memory of Ashling and in support of the Murphy family.

"The sense of support was immeasurable - something we highly value and sincerely appreciate more than words can capture," the Fund stated. "What we love most about this event is the profile of people it attracts - from high profile athletes representing their athletic clubs from all over the country to those just wishing to join in a walk, from parents with buggies and their young children, to men and women, girls and boys of all ages coming in their droves to take part. The event represents everything Ashling valued – a sense of positivity, hope, community spirit, support for each other, a willingness to help out and much, much more."

The Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund this week thanked Offaly Athletics, and in particular race directors Mary Daly and Darren Butler, for their time in planning the event and ensuring it ran smoothly.

The orgranisers also thanked Centra and the local Centra store owners for their generous sponsorship and provision of goodie bags to help with the refuelling at the finish line. They also thanked all of the volunteers involved in all aspects of the organisation of the event, Offaly Civil Defence, Séamus Walsh Plant Hire, Bridge Shopping Centre, Bank of Ireland, Offaly County Council and An Garda Síochána, Camcor Riders who assisted with marshalling, the musicians whose music helped keep spirits strong, those who prepared the goodie bags, the MC and Pop Up Races Ireland for their support.
