ESB Networks and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are currently carrying out separate investigations into a workplace incident at an ESB Networks site in Offaly this week, in which a young technician sustained serious injuries.

In a statement issued to the Offaly Independent on Wednesday, ESB Networks confirmed that one of their network technicians was recovering in hospital following a workplace incident on Monday of this week (May 12).

The network technician is aged in his 20s and from Offaly.

An investigation has been launched by ESB Networks and the HSA, according to the statement, which added that the health and safety of staff, contractors, customers and communities remains the “key priority” of ESB Networks.

A spokesperson for the HSA said they were “aware of the incident” at the Offaly ESB Networks site, and have launched an investigation.
