Medley of milestones at Mountlucas Parkrun
Over 70 runners, joggers, walkers and volunteers took part in Mountlucas parkrun at the weekend in glorious sunshine. There was a medley of milestones celebrated at the event.
Owen Óg Scully completed his 200th parkrun and did so in style by crossing the line in third place and achieving a new personal best (PB) time for parkrun of 21 minutes and 25 seconds. He was joined on the morning by his extended family, who came along to support him. Owen Óg, along with his parents Enda and Mary, brought along lovely home-made goodies for all participants and they also brought along water, which was really welcome on such a warm morning. Owen Óg has been taking part in Mountlucas parkrun since July 2017.
Speaking recently to Owen Óg about his participation in Mountlucas parkrun he said "It feels like a big part of my life to be honest. 7 years is almost half of my life doing the parkrun on a Saturday morning. Every week we come out and there are fresh and familiar faces there who are all so friendly. I've particularly enjoyed this last year as I've become faster than my Father, and I like to make sure he knows it!"
Not to be outdone, Helen Moore, who was visiting from Corkagh parkrun in Dublin, completed her 150th parkrun. Mountlucas parkrun thanked Helen for choosing Mountlucas for this milestone and encouraged her to return to the event.
It was also a big day for the Scally family from Daingean. Pearl celebrated her birthday this morning and her 4-year-old brother, Ruben, took part in his first parkrun. They were joined this morning by their brother Bruce and their mother Mairead.
Mountlucas parkrun takes place at Bord na Móna Mountlucas wind farm every Saturday morning at 9.30am sharp. There's something for everyone at Mountlucas parkrun whether you want to walk, run, volunteer or just meet new people. For more information see
