One Offaly player named on Tailteann Cup 'team of the week'

One Offaly footballer has been named on the GAA.IE Tailteann Cup 'team of the week' following the second round of fiixtures in the second-tier senior football championship competition.

Inside forward Shane Tierney was recognised for his individual display during the Faithful County's Group 2 victory over Waterford in Walsh Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Daingean clubman contributed five points, four from play, during Offaly's five point win over the Munster county, a second half goal from Cathal Flynn proving crucial to the final outcome.

Following on from their opening round win over Wicklow this places Offaly in a strong position to advance to the knockout phase of this year's competition, a final round robin fixture against Laois to be played inCedral St Conleth's Park Newbridge on Saturday, May 31.
