Ollie takes the reins at Killeigh Soccer Club

Killeigh School Boys/Girls Soccer Club has a new Honorary President who is one of the driving forces behind the development of the current facilities at the club.

Ollie O'Connell was presented with his official jacket by the family of the late Frank McEvoy and Club Chairman Mickey Feery at the annual awards day on Sunday last.

Ollie has been involved with Killeigh for the past 25 years, having started out like most club members as a parent on the sideline, before he was recruited to the club committee where he has served in many roles, including four terms as Club Chairman.

A highly successful coach through the years with underage, senior mens and senior ladies teams have given him an invaluable understanding of the grassroots game.

In his speech on Sunday last, Ollie O'Connell paid tribute to his friend and previous Honorary President, the late Frank McEvoy, and also spoke of the hard work done by so many people over the years to bring the club to where it is today,

“ I am very honoured and I am never taking this jacket off, I will have it on at every club event” he joked at the awards day.
