Offaly athlete sets new national record
Edenderry AC's Cian Crampton has set a new national under-20 discus record of 57.34m.
The Offaly man set the new benchmark as he finished fourth at the Halplus Werfertage meeting in Halle, Germany last weekend.
The previous record of 56.79 was set by Colin Quirke back in 2009.
Last year, Crampton won Ireland’s first ever field event medal at the European U18 Athletics Championships in Slovakia. In a brilliant performance, the Edenderry athlete threw an Irish U18 record of 60.55m in the discus to secure a bronze medal.
That bronze medal added to the European Youth Olympics bronze Crampton won in 2023.
Both Edenderry AC and Offaly Athletics have congratulated Cian on his latest achievement.
