Famous music documentary The Last Waltz set for Tullamore screening
The Last Waltz, regarded as one of the greatest music documentaries of all time, is to be screened in Tullamore's Esker Arts Centre this week.
The 1978 film, directed by Martin Scorsese, will be shown as part of Esker Arts' film club tomorrow (Tuesday, June 3) at 8pm.
It focuses on the farewell concert performed by The Band, along with a slew of legendary guest artists, in 1976.
Performers who joined The Band on stage at the show included Bob Dylan, for whom they had once been backing musicians.
Other performers who are shown performing at the peak of their powers in The Last Waltz include Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Neil Diamond and Van Morrison.
Tickets for the Tullamore screening on Tuesday evening are priced €7 (+ booking fee) and can be booked on the Esker Arts Centre's website here.
