Offaly to face New York in Tailteann Cup knockout phase

Offaly will play New York in the Tailteann Cup preliminary quarter-finals in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on Saturday, June 7, at 2pm.

The Faithful County missed the opportunity to top their group and advance directly to the quarter final stage of the competition when a late penalty secured victory for Laois.

New York, who enter the competition at the preliminary quarter final stage, exited the Connacht senior football championship in April when defeated by Galway.

Offaly previously hosted New York during the inaugural hosting of the Tailteann Cup when they defeated the Stateside team by 15 points in Tullamore.

As a result of their victory over Offaly, Laois will travel to TEG Cusack Park Mullingar this weekend to play Westmeath.

The other preliminary quarter-finals are Sligo vs Carlow and Wexford vs Antrim.

In addition to Wicklow and Limerick, the other teams through to the quarter-finals are Kildare and Fermanagh.

Tailteann Cup preliminary quarter-finals (first named team at home):

Westmeath v Laois; Offaly v New York; Sligo v Carlow; Wexford v Antrim.
