Sacred Heart School Choir Tullamore to perform in St Peter’s Basilica Rome

An Offaly secondary school choir has been afforded a "prestigious opportunity" to perform at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

The Sacred Heart School Choir Tullamore will travel to the Vatican City in February 2026, marking a proud milestone for the school community.

Reflective of the choir's consistent musical excellence, the school received an invitation to travel to St Peter's Basilica in Rome and where they will perform a repertoire of classical sacred music in Latin, English and Irish in addition to performing works by living Irish composers including John O'Keeffe and Ronan McDonagh.

In advance of the trip to Rome the school has launched a fundraising campaign to support the students' travel expenses, events such as benefit concerts, bake sales and community sponsorship initiatives already underway.
