Clonbollogue native Alex Dunne is primely positioned in the FIA Formula 2 Championship

Dunne maintains place at summit of FIA F2 Championship

Alex Dunne maintained his positive start to the FIA Formula 2 Championship season, a fifth place finish in the feature race in Barcelona ensuring the Clonbollogue native continues to lead the race series points table.

Despite starting on the raceday grid in eighth position, Dunne managed to achieve a fifth place finish, complementing a fine performance in the weekend's sprint race when he overcame a number of penalties to move from 19th to second position and claim the overall championship lead after six rounds.

Dunne, who is part of McLaren’s driver development programme, also picked up a bonus point on offer for registering the fastest lap on the Barcelona circuit.

Ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg at the end of June, Dunne holds a three point F2 championship lead with seven feature races remaining in this year's race series.
