Offaly school awarded Primary Climate Ambassador Flag
Scoil Mhuire in Cloneygowan was honoured as the first school in Offaly to receive the Primary Climate Ambassador Flag.
The title is bestowed upon schools which have achieved all ten Green Flags over the last 20 years.
A total of 19 Offaly schools have been awarded Green Flags this May.
The Green Flag Award is a non-profit international accreditation program that recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces and is administered by An Taisce Environmental Education unit.
The full list of schools to achieve Green Flag status includes: Killina Presentation Secondary School, Offaly School of Special Education, Cloneyhurke NS, Dromakeenan NS, St Rynagh's NS in Banagher, Scoil Mhuire Banrion in Edenderry, Scoil Naomh Eoin in Rath, St. Mary's NS in Cloghan, St. Mary's Youth Reach in Edenderry, St. Mary's Secondary School in Edenderry, Kinnitty NS, Scoil Bhride in Croghan, Scoil Bhride in Ballyboy, St. Brendan's Primary School in Birr, Mercy Primary School in Birr, Scoil Mhuire Naofa in Rhode, Colaiste losogain in Portarlington, and Scoil Mhuire, Cloneygowan.
