Daingean coffee shop celebrates one year in business
A Daingean coffee shop is celebrating one year in business this month.
The Hot-Shot coffee shop, operated by Offaly senior footballer Dylan Hyland and his partner Aishling Jones, opened for business on the town's main street in June 2024, the business becoming a popular café during its initial 12 months of trade.
Identifying a gap in the market, Dylan and Aishling committed to opening a coffee outlet in Daingean. In advance of the business opening they both participated in barista courses and with the support of family members and friends realised their dream last year.
“We locked in our opening date back in February 2024 and the family support we received prior to opening the business was amazing.
"It has been a massive collaborative effort. There is a lot of work behind the scenes too, and Dylan’s brother Cian has been so supportive in that regard," Aishling said.
The core team of staff working in the coffee shop on a day-to-day basis is Aishling and her partner Dylan, Aishling’s sister Aoife and cousin Rachel. Regulars to Hot-Shot regularly sample the wide coffee selection on offer but also the welcoming atmosphere and opportunity for a chat.
"The hard work has paid off. If I was to do it all again, I 100% would. It's been hard work but it has also been the best thing we’ve ever done. I hope we’re here for a very long time. It's hard work but it’s not like a job, it’s more a passion," Aishling added.
To mark one year in business, they have now expanded their menu to include a range of toasted sandwiches, along with their usual menu of teas, coffees, soft drinks, protein pots and sweet treats.
The Hot-Shot coffee shop opening hours are from 7am-4pm Monday to Friday inclusive and from 8am-3pm on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.
