Tobacco products worth over €30,000 seized in Offaly
A large quantity of illict cigarettes and tobacco - valued at more than €30,000 - was seized during searches of two premises in Offaly yesterday (Tuesday).
Revenue said its officers carried out searches under warrant at two unidentified premises in the county, and recovered 34,160 cigarettes along with 2.4kg of tobacco.
The seized products, branded Marlboro, Winston, Rothmans, and Gold Virginia, have an estimated retail value of more than €32,900, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €25,900.
Revenue said today (Wednesday) that no further information was available on the operation, as investigations were ongoing.
This seizure was part of Revenue's operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply and sale of illegal tobacco products.
