New tourism information kiosks launched in Birr
The heritage town of Birr has taken another step forward in enhancing its visitor experience with the launch of four new tourism brochure kiosks located at key points around the town, providing tourists and day-trippers with easy access to up-to-date information about attractions, events and places to stay in the town and the wider area.
Strategically placed in high traffic locations at Dooly’s Hotel, County Arms, Birr Castle Demesne and the Birr Municipal District offices (adjacent to Birr library), the kiosks are stocked with a variety of brochures and maps, guiding visitors to Offaly’s many heritage sites, natural attractions and cultural destinations. The kiosks also have a QR code that allows visitors to scan the code giving them direct access into Offaly’s tourism website www.visitoffaly.ie where they can further explore Offaly’s rich tourism offerings.
Renowned for its stunning Georgian architecture, tree-lined streets, and the world-famous Birr Castle Demesne, Birr is a town steeped in history and charm. The new brochure kiosks will help ensure that all who visit can make the most of their time in this unique destination.
Speaking at the launch, Cllr. Audrey Hennessey Kennedy, Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council, and Birr native, expressed her enthusiasm about the initiative.
“We are absolutely delighted to launch these new brochure kiosks, which are a wonderful asset for the town. They will make it even easier for visitors to discover everything Birr has to offer – from our rich architectural heritage to the beauty of Birr Castle Demesne and the many hidden gems throughout the area. Supporting tourism is key to sustaining our local economy, and these stands are a simple but effective way to welcome and inform all who come to explore our town," the Cathaoirleach said.
This project is part of an ongoing dedicated activity by Offaly County Council to promote tourism and improve visitor services in the town. Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to stop by the kiosks and discover all that Birr and its surrounding region have to offer.
