Five Offaly schools benefit from €130,500 in Safe Routes to School funding

Five Offaly schools are set to benefit from €130,500 in funding which has been allocated under the Safe Routes to School programme.

This funding will help to improve access around school grounds, add safer walking, cycling, and scooting infrastructure, and expand bike and scooter parking.

Offaly schools to benefit include: St. Joseph’s NS, Tullamore; St. Rynagh’s NS, Banagher; Banagher College; Scoil Mhuire, Tullamore; and Coláiste Íosagáin, Portarlington.

Offaly TD John Clendennen said: "This programme will help helping students travel safely and sustainably, while reducing local traffic, but it must be delivered in a timely manner and I’ll continue to keep the issue of efficient planning and delivery of projects on the agenda"
