MenPower Programme coming to Edenderry in September
A free programme which focuses on the mental health and well-being of men is being offered in the Edenderry area this September.
Offaly Local Development Company (OLDC) will host a 12-week MenPower Programme in the Fairgreen Community Centre, starting on Wednesday, September 24. The course will take place every Wednesday from 10am to 1pm and on Thursdays from 10am to 2pm.
The programme is open to all men over the age of 18 (there is no upper age limit) who have experienced issues like loss, confusion, lack of focus or employment-related challenges. As well as conducting one-to-one sessions with participants, the course also combines mental health support, adult guidance, physical activity and social interaction.
Men can refer themselves or be referred by their GP or a support worker, but they must be willing to commit to the group two mornings a week.
Many professional individuals and agencies, both internal and external contribute to the programme, sharing their insights, wisdom and knowledge.
MenPower staff are available by appointment if needed, prior to a group session commencing, during group or after group if one requires a listening ear or support with regards to issues . If staff are unable to support you, they will signpost you to someone that can.
The course will be delivered face to face in small groups. Two one to one sessions will also be assigned to each participant.
OLDC has stressed that places are limited on the Edenderry Menpower Programme, and all those wishing to enrol in the September course are advised to contact Aoife as soon as possible for more information and to secure their place.
