Plans for a new funeral parlour in a vacant commercial premises on Tullamore's Main Street have been given the green light this week.
Lodged with Offaly County Council on February 26, on behalf of established local funeral directors Lambes, the application sought permission for a change of use of an existing commercial unit on Main Street into a funeral parlour.
The application noted “minor changes” to the front entrance of the premises, together with all associated site works, as well as the inclusion of a family bereavement room also forms part of the plans.
Permission for the change of use of the building was granted under eight conditions.
The planning application has been lodged by P.J. Lambe, David Lambe and Edel Kenny, and the owner of the commercial unit where the proposed funeral parlour is to be located is listed as Rita Lambe.
The funeral parlour will occupy approximately 62.75sq.m while the proposed family bereavement room will be 13.8sq.m.
Architectural drawings for the proposed funeral parlour, which accompany the planning application, indicate that both the public entrance and exit will be located to the front of the existing commercial unit.
