Offaly TDs attend Fáilte Ireland tourism briefing

Offaly's three TDs, John Clendennen, Tony McCormack and Carol Nolan were recently briefed on Fáilte Ireland's tourism promotion work in the county as part of an Oireachtas Information Clinic it organised for TDs and Senators.

Fáilte Ireland said the Dáil deputies "got to hear first-hand about the work Fáilte Ireland teams are doing on the ground in Offaly to drive sustainable tourism, grow visitor numbers, increase tourism revenue and to support jobs across the constituency and region".

It added that the National Tourism Development Authority "provided county specific details on Fáilte Ireland’s investment programmes, destination development work, digitalisation, business and skills supports, festival funding and its work promoting tourism as a career".

Fáilte Ireland highlighted the importance of the tourism sector to the national economy and to regional development and employment.

It said that, pre-Covid, the sector generated revenue of €7.5 billion annually and supported 260,000 jobs nationwide while contributing €1.7 billion to the Exchequer.
