Celebrated bluegrass band, JigJam, release new single

A hugely accomplished multi-instrumentalist and singer from Tullamore has written the latest single to be released by one of the most celebrated Irish bluegrass bands.

Jamie McKeogh from Durrow, who is the lead singer and a founding member of JigJam, has written a song called 'Running Back To You' which also features the vocals of celebrated roots artist, Lindsay Lou.

The new single is the first release from the band's forthcoming studio album, and it comes just ahead of a busy summer tour that will take JigJam all across North America, with performances at a host of top-tier music festivals and venues.

Jamie McKeogh, who is the son of former Sacred Heart School music teacher, Regina McCarthy, and her husband, Seamus McKeogh, is a hugely accomplished musican and singer with no less than four Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann titles under his belt. He is also a past member of the Comhaltas tour of Ireland and the UK, and he founded JigJam along with fellow Offaly musician, Daithi Melia, who plays the 5 string banjo and dobro. The quartet is also made up of Gavin Strappe from Tipperary on mandolin and tenor banjo and Kevin Buckley on fiddle.

Jamie McKeogh was inspired to write 'Running Back To You' based on his own personal experience of spending so much time on the road and missing loved ones back home. Life on the road can wear on you sometimes times, moving from hotel to hotel” he says “but knowing you have someone to get back home to can keep you going, and that feeling inspired me to write the song.”

He said the band are delighted to have Lindsay Lou on the new single. “Her vocals bring something special to it” he adds.

JigJam is currently recording their next studio album at Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Studio in Nashville, an invitation extended personally by Brown after meeting the band at a festival last year. The historic studio has hosted legendary artists including Kris Kristofferson, Larry Gatlin, Kacey Musgraves, Dwight Yoakam, and The Foo Fighters.

The upcoming project features a lineup of standout guest artists including Lindsay Lou, Sister Sadie, Johnny Mullenax, Rob Ickes, with more to be announced. The new music is being produced by fellow Offaly man, Joe Egan, from Clara.

JigJam made its Grand Ole Opry debut in March 2023 to huge critical acclaim, receiving a standing ovation from a packed audience on country music's biggest stage. The Offaly/Tipperary group was joined on stage on their debut in Nashville by such country music luminaries as Garth Brooks, Trish Yearwood, Steve Earle and Lauren Aliana and a host of other well-known names from the world of American country music.
