Overnight water restrictions in place across local region

Uisce Éireann is advising customers in Clara, Ferbane, Shannonbridge, Doon, Shannon Harbour, Belmont and surrounding areas of essential overnight water restrictions due to a mechanical fault at the Clara-Ferbane Water Treatment Plant.

To maintain daytime supply for homes and businesses in the region, restrictions will be in place from 11 pm to 7am starting tonight and continuing over the weekend.

James Joyce of Uisce Éireann said the restrictions are being carefully timed to cause as little disruption as possible.

"We understand nighttime restrictions can cause disruption, but they are necessary to maintain a daytime supply. A mechanical fault at the Clara-Ferbane Water Treatment Plant has put extra pressure on the production of water. Our crews will be working throughout the weekend to resolve the issue as quickly as possible," he said.

"In the meantime, we’re asking all customers to use water wisely. Simple steps at home, in businesses, and in gardens can make a big difference in helping maintain regular supply across the area.”
