Milestones and a birthday at Mountlucas Parkrun

Mountlucas parkrun this week took place on a beautifully bright and sunny morning. There were almost 60 walkers, joggers and runners. There were two participants who completed a milestone parkrun: Mary Quinn and Ryan Travers.

Mary has been taking part in Mountlucas parkrun since 2018 but only began attending more frequently in 2023. She completed her milestone 50th parkrun at the weekend.

Ryan Travers completed his 25th parkrun. Ryan has only been taking part in parkrun since March 2024 so has worked hard to reach this milestone so quickly. Despite the challenge of running in a very high temperature, Ryan completed the 5km course in a great time, of 23 minutes and 40 seconds. Well done to both Ryan and Mary from all at Mountlucas parkrun.

The first person across the finish line at this week's Mountlucas parkrun was Evan Fitzgerald from West Waterford Athletics Club. He didn’t seem to be impacted by the heat and completed the 5km course in a phenomenal time of 15 minutes and 4 seconds. He had travelled (a long, long way) from Tipperary with his Dad John and sister Holly to attend Mountlucas parkrun.

Another recent celebration at Mountlucas parkrun was the event's 8th birthday. Mountlucas parkrun was first established in July 2017 and has continued to grow in popularity since then.

Mountlucas parkrun takes place at Bord na Móna Mountlucas windfarm every Saturday morning at 9.30am sharp. There's something for everyone at Mountlucas parkrun whether you want to walk, run, volunteer or just meet new people. For more information see
