Plans in place for annual Mary Sheerin Music Extravaganza

As they approach the 4th anniversary of the passing of their beloved mother, Mary, the Sheerin Family Band will once again be joined on stage by a host of musical artists for the annual Mary Sheerin Memorial Music Extravaganza in Cooney's Hotel, Ballymahon, later this month.

The memorial event takes place on Tuesday, July 29, and members of the Sheerin family will be joined by Robert Mizell, John Hogan, Cliona Hagan and a host of artists as they remember their mother and celebrate her legacy.

Mary Sheerin from Maghera, the Pidgeons, between Athlone and Ballymahon, who was a founding member of the Sheerin Family Band, passed away on August 3, 2021, at the age of 78.

Having played a key role throughout her life in supporting her husband, Dan, and her large family as they pursued careers in music, the Sheerin Family Band came up with the idea of hosting an annual memorial night in honour of Mary in order to celebrate her wonderful legacy. Among those who will be performing on stage in Cooneys at this year's memorial event is her husband, Dan, who launched his first solo album last September at the ripe old age of 83!

With a fun-filled night of music and memories planned for the Mary Sheerin Memorial Music Extravaganza in Cooney's Hotel on Tuesday, July 29 next, patrons are advised to arrive early for what promises to be a great night of musical entertainment.

The final event of the Sheerin Family Band's trilogy of Summer Nights Concerts in Cooney's Hotel will take place on Tuesday, August 19 next when the guest artist will be former Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan.
