McNamee steps away from Offaly senior football squad

Offaly footballer Ruairi McNamee has confirmed his departure from the county's senior panel.

The Rhode club player informed management and his playing colleagues of his decision this week, the potent forward calling time on his Faithful County journey.

McNamee's final appearance for his county came on June 14 when he was a used substitute during Offaly's one point defeat to Tailteann Cup winners Kildare.

McNamee started just two competitive fixtures in this year being mainly used as an impact substitute by the management duo of Declan Kelly and Micky Harte.

McNamee made his senior debut for Offaly in 2016 and was a permanent fixture for the Faithful County in each campaign since then.

The potent forward will now turn his focus to his club Rhode with whom he has won numerous Offaly senior football championships.

Rhode will be hoping to claim their first victory of this year's senior football championship when they play Ferbane in a home fixture on Friday, August 1 (throw in, 7.30pm).
