Met Eireann have issued a potato blight warning in 26 counties including Offaly.
Counties affected include Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford, and Wicklow.
From today, Wednesday, July 30, until noon on Thursday, July 31, weather conditions conducive to the spread of potato blight will affect Ireland.
Potato blight is caused by phytophthora infestans, a fungus-like microorganism that causes the serious potato and tomato disease.
