Tullamore Credit Union links up with council on housing support
Tullamore Credit Union is now providing a complementary financial loan product to assist members who have been approved for housing aid grants from Offaly County Council.
The credit union said it was thrilled to announce the initiative, which will support those availing of housing aid grants from the local authority.
The complementary loan funding is designed to help support recipients of housing adaption grants for older persons and disabled persons. This is achieved through an unsecured aided home improvement loan in order to help individuals and families improve their homes and quality of life.
The initiative was originally proposed by then-councillor Tony McCormack in October 2024. It now sees Tullamore Credit Union offering an unsecured aided home improvement loan to eligible applicants who have received a grant or partial funding through the council's housing aid grant programme.
This additional loan support helps cover the remaining cost of essential home improvements or additional costs not covered by the grant, enabling more people to complete vital works on their home.
“We are absolutely delighted to support our community through this initiative,” said Caroline Collins Murphy, DCEO of Tullamore Credit Union.
“Everyone deserves a safe, secure, and comfortable home.
“By offering the aided home improvement loan, we’re ensuring more families can move forward with important home upgrades without financial worry, and this initiative promotes independent living,” she commented.
Tullamore Credit Union said its aided home improvement loan is "flexible, affordable, and tailored to meet the needs of each applicant." Those approved for the council's Housing Adaption Grant who require additional financing are encouraged to get in touch to explore their options.
