Birr & District Motor Club to host sensory hour as part of Autocross weekend

Aiming to make motorsport more inclusive, Birr & District Motor Club will host an autism friendly hour as part of its two day autocross weekend at the end of August.

The sensory friendly hour will take place near Cloughjordan (Eircode E53 AN23) on Saturday, August 30, from 6pm-7pm.

Birr & District Motor Club said that the sensory hour is designed for individuals with sensory sensitivities, offering a quieter, calmer environment to view and enjoy the Autocross cars, specials and buggys which will be parked in a separate enclosure, well away from the hustle and bustle of the main centre of operations.

During the sensory friendly hour there will be a static display, no loud engine noises, reduced fuel fumes, reduced crowds and calm outdoor surroundings with all welcome to attend this free event.

The two day Autocross event will take place on the August 30 and 31.
