Popular Cannonball supercar spectacle returning to Offaly next month

The ever-popular Cannonball supercar spectacle is set for a return to Offaly next month.

The high-octane fundraiser, which supports The Jack and Jill Children's Foundation, is setting off from Johnstown Estate in Enfield on the morning of Friday, September 12.

It will then come through Offaly the same, taking in Edenderry, Daingean and Tullamore, before continuing on to Portaloise and Cork.

Cannonball founder Alan Bannon confirmed that the event is set to roll on September 12-14, taking in parts of Offaly, Ballymaloe, Killarney, Clare, Sligo, Cavan and finishing in Naas.

Cannonball, fuelled by miles+ from Circle K, is the largest organised road trip in Europe, featuring the finest cars on the planet from the awe-inspiring power of Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren to the grace and elegance of Porsche, Aston Martin, and Maserati.

Over 200,000 spectators are expected with free festivals organised from coast to coast.

The cars will begin to arrive at Johnstown Estate on Thursday, September 11, and spectators will be able to view the cars from approximately 6pm. On Friday, September 12, at 10am, the cars will leave Johnstown Estate with great fanfare and, this year, the sky is the limit for Cannonball as helicopters will circle overhead.

PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe, presenters of Morning Glory with PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe on Radio Nova, are all revved up to support the fundraising drive for Jack and Jill.

"We broadcast our show from the start line at Cannonball last year and were blown away by the atmosphere and the buzz of it all. We can't wait to be there at the start line at Johnstown Estate again on September 12," PJ and Jim said.

Cannonball has already raised €2,024,809 for Irish Children’s charities and brings an electric atmosphere to host towns all over the country, making it a widely-anticipated free family event for spectators.

Its charity partner, the Jack and Jill Children's Foundation, operates seven days a week with no means test, no red tape and no waiting list, and has cared for 41 children in Offaly since being establishd in 1997.
