Offaly TD backs Heather Humphreys' presidential bid

Offaly TD John Clendennen has confirmed his support for Heather Humphreys in the upcoming Fine Gael Presidential candidate selection process.

The Offaly Fine Gael TD said the party is fortunate to have two strong and dedicated members already expressing their interest in contesting the nomination, Seán Kelly MEP and former Minister Heather Humphreys.

“Both Seán and Heather have served our party and our country with distinction over many years, and either would make a fine President,” said Deputy Clendennen.

“Having had the privilege of working closely with Heather on several local projects, I know her commitment and vision first-hand. It has always been a pleasure to introduce her to local communities on the many occasions she has visited the county.

"That is why I will be supporting Heather in the weeks ahead, and I have already submitted a nomination of candidate paper to Fine Gael Headquarters.”

Nominations open for the Fine Gael Presidential Candidate open today at noon and close Tuesday, September 2, at noon.

Members of the Parliamentary Party, Councillors and Executive Council all have nominating rights.
