Daingean organic farm to host new HedgeRow festival

Daingean's Mount Briscoe organic farm is preparing to host a new cultural and Arts event entitled 'HedgeRow Fest'.

Taking place on Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7, the event is described as a new "boutique hedge, lit and wellness festival" focusing on creativity, nature, hedgerows and slowing down.

It is being held in conjunction with National Hedgerow Week 2025. The theme of HedgeRow Fest 2025 is ‘Celebrating our hedges – a partnership with nature’, and next month's event is a collaboration between Margaret Edgill, Organic Farmer, Mount Briscoe, and Daingean Development Association.

Mount Briscoe Organic Farm hopes to unite a collective of artists, poets, authors, creatives, foragers, farmers, ecologists and specialists in order to bring to life its hedgerows visually, through the spoken word, music, poem or prose and visual art.

Andy Brooks better known as Testament, a British rapper, beatboxer, playwright and writer, will give an exclusive poetry workshop at HedgeRow Fest on Saturday, September 6. As a lyricist, his critically acclaimed work brings together rap, song and spoken word.

The Delmaine String Quartet will then present 'The Company of Trees - A Celebration in Words and Music' on Sunday, September 7.

'The Company of Trees' celebrates our long and complex relationship with the forest world through literature and music. Patrick Deeley poet, memoirist and children’s writer will read from his new memoir 'Seeing Through Trees'.

Richard Negus, author of 'Words from the Hedge' reads both days and will give walking tours in conversation with experts on Mount Briscoe’s wonderful hedgerows.

Mount Briscoe organic farm said the programme of events has something for everyone with nature journaling, forest bathing, forest school, wild food foraging, mushroom foraging, master classes in hedgelaying, art workshops, and art exhibitions.

This project is supported by Offaly County Council through the Creative Ireland Community Grant Programme and the Heritage Council.
