New exhibition of Tullamore photos to go on display in town library

A new exhibition by the photography group from Rehabcare services in Tullamore will go on display in the town's library from next week.

'A View From Our Bridge' is the title of the exhibition which is described as "a collection of photographs from Tullamore".

The exhibition opens on Monday next, September 1, at 2pm.

The photography group spent the summer exploring and taking photos of local sites in and around Tullamore. The photos encapsulate Tullamore and include areas some might not get to see, bringing in landscapes, architecture, and nature.

The group was made up of service users from across Canal View, Bridge View, and The Hub services from Rehabcare. The group was led by community support workers Aine Murray and Jason Turner, who have a background in photography, arts, and digital media.

Conor Dyer said about the programme: "I love my phone and often share photos with family and friends. The programme taught me how to create different angles that make my photos cool."

Louise Stone added: "I loved the walks, and having my phone to take pictures gave me something to do whilst out and about."

The group then went on an outing to the National Photographic Museum in Dublin, where they enjoyed a tour of the gallery and a behind-the-scenes tour of the dark rooms where they were shown how to develop photos.

David Barnett said: "I've never seen how they made photos the old-fashioned way before, and would like to come up again and develop one of my own."

The group hopes you like their photos and asks you to please leave a comment in the visitor book at the library.

The exhibition will remain on display in the library until September 26, including through Culture Night.
