Lowry faces anxious wait for Ryder Cup call

Shane Lowry faces an anxious wait to see if he will see action in the Ryder Cup in September.

The Clara man will be hoping for one of six 'Captain's Picks' from Luke Donald as he dropped out of an automatic selection place for the European team at the weekend.

The 2019 Open champion who, prior to his start in the Tour Championship, was placed in one of the six automatic European team paces, dropped to seventh following Danish golfer Rasmus Hojgaard's strong performance in the British Masters.

Lowry is aiming to compete in his third successive Ryder Cup next month, having been chosen as a 'Captain's Pick' for the 2021 and 2023 events.

Captain Luke Donald will make his wildcard selections on September 1 ahead of the prestigious bi-annual Europe v USA golf tournament in Bethpage Black New York taking place from September 23-28.
