REVEALED: County of Ireland’s third largest Lotto jackpot worth over €17m

An online player in Mayo has just claimed a staggering €17,008,295 in Wednesday night’s Lotto draw (August 27), making them Ireland’s third largest Lotto jackpot winner ever.

The win leaves Mayo at the top the Lotto leaderboard of highest jackpot wins. Since the Lotto began in 1988, Mayo has now claimed both the highest (€19,060,800) and third highest (€17,008,295) jackpots in Irish history.

Wednesday's online winner also becomes the seventh jackpot winner of 2025, joining a winning line-up from Louth, Dublin, Kerry, Limerick, Kilkenny and Waterford. In addition, this crowns the winner as the 17th National Lottery millionaire of the year.

The winning numbers in the draw on Wednesday's were 2, 6, 20, 22, 26 and 39, and the bonus was 5.

The National Lottery has confirmed that a notification and an email has been sent to the online player in Mayo. The winner is advised to make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie to arrange collection of the prize.

Darragh O’Dwyer, National Lottery spokesperson, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that the third largest Lotto jackpot ever, an eye-watering €17,008,295, has been won by an online player in Mayo. While the county might still be waiting for Sam to come home, it has returned two of the three largest Lotto jackpot wins since 1988.

“This marks the seventh Lotto jackpot win of 2025, following a roll that began after a €4,038,682 win in Tramore, Co. Waterford, back in April. And with this win, we now celebrate our 17th National Lottery millionaire of the year. As well as our jackpot winner, in total, over 93,000 players won prizes in the Lotto and Lotto plus draws.”
