McGlynn adds another national title to her list of honours

Offaly's Ann Marie McGlynn was crowned the 2025 national half marathon champion at the sold-out BnM Tullamore Harriers Half Marathon last Saturday morning.

Competing in her home county, Mucklagh native McGlynn was a very popular winner of the senior women’s title, adding to her growing list of national titles to take her first half marathon title in impressive fashion.

The Strabane AC athlete, a former member of Tullamore Harriers, crossed in a time of 1:15:10 which saw her finish ahead of Caithlyn Harvey (Roadrunners AC) 1:19:31 and Noureen Brouder (Sportsworld AC) 1:21:15.

Speaking after the race, McGlynn said: “It was like a winter’s day out there, but it’s a national half and its running through my village, so I couldn’t not do it.

"The plan now will be to get back and recover from this which was slightly faster than marathon effort, so I shouldn’t be too long getting back. I’ll focus in on another block of training and then it’s all eyes on the Dublin Marathon.”

In the men's race, Jake O’Regan (St John’s AC, Clare), who came into the race off an impressive win at the Cork City Half Marathon back in June, mastered the wet and windy conditions to cross in a winning time of 1:07:25.

Speaking after the race, a delighted O’Regan spoke of his pride at taking his second senior title on the roads. He said: “I’m delighted to get a national title over the half marathon distance. The conditions were tricky, but I felt I had the wind on my back when I really needed it on the downhill. It was a great event and a huge thanks to all in Tullamore Harriers for braving the wind and rain with us out there”.

Patrick McColl (Road Runners AC) ran a huge race to take the national silver in 1:09:00, while Matthew Kane (Rathfarnham WSA AC) secured a brilliant bronze with 1:10:48.

Clane AC packed superbly to take the men's team title with Terry Shanley (1:11:55) leading home the Conroys to finish with over three minutes to spare on host club Tullamore Harriers.

Liffey Valley AC came out on top of the senior women's team standings with Mollie O’Donell leading them home in 01:24:35. Mullingar Harriers and St Finbarr's were second and third respectively.

Athletics Ireland has thanked all involved in the Tullamore Harriers Half Marathon for hosting this year’s national championships.
