Offaly gears up for Culture Night 2025 with packed programme
Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir returns on Friday, September 19, with Offaly set to host a vibrant line-up of free cultural events for all ages.
Presented by the Arts Council and coordinated locally by Offaly County Council Arts Office, the evening will showcase the county’s rich artistic talent through music, dance, visual arts, literature, film, and community workshops.
This year’s programme includes four specially commissioned projects, from Sheila Hough’s pop-up art exhibition at J.J. Hough’s Singing Pub, to performances at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre, Tullamore History Centre, and Esker Arts in Tullamore. Highlights include viola recitals, contemporary dance, creative writing workshops, and public art projects.
Across the county, community groups and artists will host events such as Clara Musical Society’s Movies & Musicals, Music Generation Offaly’s Midland Rocks, open mic nights in Edenderry, and traditional music and dance with Tullamore Camogie Club. Families can enjoy children’s storytelling, youth art exhibitions, and hands-on workshops, while Tullamore Library, Birr Library, and Edenderry Library will offer a range of robotics events, live music, and choral performances.
Other highlights include a reading from author Conor Brady, performance art by Lee Hamill, and the screening of Patrick Fogerty’s short film Dairy Babes. The night will round out with spoken word at Teach Ceoil and late-night beats at John Lee’s Bar with DJ Dylan Delaney.
All events are free. Booking may be required for some events.
