Radio presenter to host Brown Bread competition at Tullamore Ploughing
Radio presenter Alison Curtis has been named as the master of ceremonies for the National Brown Bread Baking Competition at the National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore later this month.
The radio presenter will once again take to the stage for the event, supported by Euronics in association with the National Ploughing Association (NPA) and the Irish Country Women’s Association (ICA).
Alison will be guiding contestants through the tense bake-offs and keeping audiences entertained as Ireland’s best brown bread bakers compete for the coveted title.
Speaking ahead of the event, Alison said:“I am absolutely thrilled to be back hosting the National Brown Bread Baking Competition. It’s such a unique event that celebrates tradition, community and of course some of the best brown bread in the country. The atmosphere in the marquee last year was wonderful and the camaraderie between the eight finalists was lovely to see. It’s a special event at the National Ploughing Championships and I can’t wait to be back.”
The semi-finals will take place at the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore, on September 16 and 17, with the grand final scheduled for the afternoon of September 18.
Spectators at the championships will have the unique opportunity to witness the nation’s top brown bread bakers in action, showcasing the skill, patience, and precision it takes to create Ireland’s most beloved loaf.
The winner will take home an incredible €5,000 cash prize and a NEFF Slide & Hide oven (RRP €2,019), while all three finalists will also receive a €500 Euronics gift card.
