Liss cemetery to host annual Ecumenical service on Sunday

Liss cemetery, on the outskirts of Ballycumber, will host its annual Ecumenical service on Sunday, September 14, at 3pm.

The cemetery has burials from the Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland traditions.

Thanks to funding received from the Heritage Council of Ireland, the cemetery committee had the gates, railings and piers on one side of the cemetery restored.

Work is continuing this year to restore the other side of Liss cemetery.

Brendan St John, Forge & Iron Works is currently working on the gates and railings, while Damien Condon, Calx Renders Ltd will join him later to rebuild the piers to fit the railings.

Richard McLoughlin, Lotts Architecture & Urbanism Ltd is the architect overseeing the project.

All three gave a very informative talk and demonstration during Heritage Week to inform the public about the challenges involved in the project and the natural materials used. The work is expected to be completed shortly.

All are welcome to join the cemetery service on Sunday next at 3pm.
