Walsh hoping for world boxing championships quarter-final spot

Tullamore boxer Gráinne Walsh returns to World Boxing championship action this evening when she contests for a place in the quarter-final of the tournament.

The Paris Olympian steps into the squared circle with Mariana Soto Torres of Spain, with an expected start time of 6.15pm for the bout.

In her round of 32 contest, Walsh triumphed over Slovakian boxer Jessica Triebelova by unanimous decision and she will be hoping such form continues this evening at the Liverpool Arena.

Offaly's other representative at the championships, Daingean's Brian Kennedy, received a bye in the opening round and will enter the ring on Tuesday evening in the last 16 of the 85kg category.
