Large turnout for annual Banagher Horse Fair
The annual Banagher Horse Fair took place on the Main Street, the traditional site for the event, on Sunday last (September 14).
Traders gathered from the day before, securing their pitches before the hugely popular event. On Fair Day itself, after a misty wet start, the weather remained pleasant.
Stall holders, horses and people stretched from Market Square to the top of the hill near the Protestant Church of Ireland.
People came from every corner of Ireland. A lot of Northern Ireland buyers were evident. Some English and Welsh buyers were also spotted.
Trade was reported to be brisk, and some high prices were reported. The selection of stock was exceptional.
Banagher Fair is similar to many other big fairs around Ireland, for example Buttevant and Castleisland and Maam Cross.
Fair goers are already looking forward to next year's event which will take place on September 13, 2026.
