Films with Offaly connections in line-up for Kerry International Film Festival

A number of films with strong Offaly connections have made it into the lineup for the 26th edition of the Kerry International Film Festival (KIFF).

Taking place in Killarney from Thursday, October 16, to Sunday, October 19, Kerry International Film Festival aims to bring audiences together for four days of unmissable cinema, and conversation.

Three films with Offaly connections have been selected as part of the line-up for the festival, including last year's FilmOffaly Short Film Award Winner, For The Cure, Birr native producer and director Nicky Larkin's film Sumoland, which will both be screened on Saturday, October 18.

Also showing on Saturday, October 18, is Patrick Fogarty's Dairy Babes, which recently screened at Esker Arts as part of this year's Culture Night.

One of Ireland’s oldest film festivals, KIFF consistently pushes for change, striving to create a festival where all can feel included and celebrated.

The Maureen O’Hara Award, which solely recognises the contributions of women to the Film & TV industries, was one of the first film awards dedicated to women on its introduction in 2008.

In 2021, KIFF introduced its ‘All Abilities’ Category, which is dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the work and stories from people with different disabilities and abilities. Then, in 2025, KIFF became an Autism Friendly Champion, which underlines a commitment to training and adapting our festival to be more accessible for neurodivergent people.
