Willie Duffy completes his 50th parkrun
The rain, for the most part, held off for Mountlucas parkrun at the weekend. There were a number of visitors at the event including husband and wife Amanda and Darren Bird all the way from Ipswich in the UK. They have travelled to Mountlucas parkrun as part of a challenge to complete the parkrun alphabet- to complete a parkrun beginning with each letter of the alphabet. Their attendance coincided with Darren's 25th parkrun. Another visitor was Evan O'Rourke from Oranmore who decided to complete the event while passing through the area. He completed the course in a phenomenal 16 minutes and 36 seconds.
Parkrun however is not just for those who run and are after fast finish times. A milestone recently celebrated at Mountlucas parkrun was Willie Duffy's 50th parkrun. Willie walks the 5km parkrun course each time he attends. On the day of his 50th milestone he was supported by family and friends. This milestone is all the more impressive as Willie only started his parkrun journey in March 2024, with all 50 parkruns completed at Mountlucas parkrun. His faithful dog Sam has completed the majority of these parkruns with Willie. Well done Willie from all at Mountlucas parkrun.
