Minister for Education announces plans for new national event Oíche na hÓige

Minister for Education and Youth, Helen McEntee, today (15 October) announced Oíche na hÓige (‘Youth Night’) 2025, a new national event celebrating youth work, youth clubs, and young people across Ireland.

The pilot event will take place on Friday, 21 November 2025, offering communities nationwide a chance to come together and recognise the contribution of young people, youth clubs, and the dedicated youth workers and volunteers who support them.

On Oíche na hÓige, youth clubs and services are invited to open their doors and showcase their members, staff, and impact, raising awareness of the vital role youth work plays in communities. Events can include public showcases or other creative formats chosen by participants.

Supported under the Opportunities for Youth strategy and inspired by events like Culture Night and Open House Dublin, Oíche na hÓige aims to highlight the vibrant, diverse network of youth services across Ireland—spaces where young people grow, learn, and thrive.

The Department of Education and Youth will provide funding through Education and Training Boards (ETBs) to help clubs and projects participate.

Minister McEntee said: “I’m delighted to announce Oíche na hÓige 2025, a new initiative to celebrate youth work, youth clubs, and the volunteers and workers who make such a difference. I encourage all eligible clubs and services to get involved and show their community what youth work means to them.”

Clubs funded under the Local Youth Club Grant Scheme or UBU Your Place Your Space are invited to take part. More information will be available from local ETB Youth Officers.
