Mucklagh's Dolan nominated for Young Player of the Year award

Mucklagh native Ellen Dolan has been nominated for the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Young Player of the Year.

The Peamount United midfielder has been rewarded for a season during which she scored on nine occasions.

Dolan was part of the Peamount United team which defeated Athlone Town earlier this month, in the process inflicting the Premier Division champion's sole defeat of their league campaign.

She won a Premier Division league medal with Peamount United in 2023 and also represented Ireland at the Women's Under-19s European Championships last year.

Meanwhile, four Athlone Town players have been nominated for the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Player of the Year.

Striker Kelly Brady, wingers Madison Gibson, Roisin Molloy and central midfielder Hannah Waesch, have been recognised for their contributions to the club's successful retention of the Women's Premier League title.

Brady already has one accolade to her name winning the Golden Boot award after she topped the charts with 20 league goals in her debut season.

The quartet will be hoping to complete the 'double' on Sunday when Athlone Town travel to Tallaght Stadium to play Bohemians in the Women's FAI Cup final (kick-off, 3pm).

Colin Fortune, who departed his role of Athlone Town women's manager in September, has been nominated for the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Manager of the Year.

The 11 players who will make up the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Team of the Year will be unveiled at the November 14 ceremony along with the winners for the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Goal of the Year (Presented by Rockshore), EA SPORTS LOI WU19 Player of the Year (Presented by EA SPORTS) and EA SPORTS LOI WU17 Player of the Year (Presented by UMBRO), as well as the recipients of the Services to League of Ireland Award (Presented by SSE Airtricity).
