Plans for landmark Killeigh building

One of the most significant buildings in Killeigh village could be in line for a major revamp after plans were lodged with Offaly County Council for the redevelopment of the property

Eoin Bracken and Sinead Greene have sought planning permission for development works on the imposing detached two-storey property on the Main Street in the village.

The building is a protected structure dating to the 19th century and served as the Old RIC Barracks.

The applicants have sought permission for a range of refurbishment works, including the re-slating of the roof to include repairs to roof timbers and chimneys; new windows; removal of a dilapidated gable to the rear.

They are also seeking to refurbish an existing rear extension.

Internal works are also planned including the removal of all vegetation and non-original fixtures and fittings; replacement of all rotten and damaged timbers; repair to timber floors; as well as new bathrooms and utility room in extension, new en-suite and wardrobes in master bedroom and a new kitchen

Offaly County Council is due to make a decision on the planning application by December 3 next.
