Tullamore Toastmasters celebrate successful meeting at Fergie's Bar

Tullamore Toastmasters enjoyed a highly successful meeting last night at their usual venue, the upstairs meeting room in Fergie's Bar, Market Square. Club President Timothy Green opened the session with an encouraging report on the club’s ongoing development.

The meeting was expertly led by Toastmaster Eileen Fleming, who introduced the evening’s functionaries. Catherine Ryan described her role as timekeeper, while Grammarian Dan Dola highlighted the significance of his position in maintaining linguistic accuracy. General Evaluator Timothy Green explained his duties in offering comprehensive feedback.

Topics Master Emily Masterson excelled in her role, leading engaging impromptu speaking exercises that enhanced the members' ability to think on their feet. A cake, generously provided by Catherine Ryan during the intermission, was a much-appreciated treat.

The latter part of the meeting featured two outstanding speeches. Mary McKernan delivered "A Vision of Beauty," a fascinating story about a young Dubliner's journey from the 1940s to becoming a journalist in the 1950s, culminating in an assignment in County Clare. Charles Malone presented "Wheels, Whirls, and Winds," a narrative about the public relations journey of a Toastmaster bus tour, including its stop in Tullamore.

Evaluations by Mike Keenan and Eileen Fleming offered valuable insights to the speakers. The next Tullamore Toastmasters meeting will take place upstairs at Fergie's Bar on the second Thursday, November 13, at 8 PM.
