Two new sculptures to be officially launched at Lough Boora Discovery Park

Two new sculptures at Lough Boora Discovery Park, both created by acclaimed Irish artist Kevin O'Dwyer, will be officially unveiled early next month.

The pieces, entitled 'Regeneration' and 'Light as a Feather' are to be launched at the Lough Boora Discovery Park visitor centre on the morning of Tuesday, November 4.

Amanda Pedlow, Offaly heritage officer and Creative Ireland co-ordinator, said: "We are delighted to welcome these two new and engaging works to the Sculpture Park at Lough Boora which have been part-funded by Offaly's Creative Ireland programme with BnM facilitating the installation.

"Offaly County Council and BnM partner on the management and development of the sculpture park and the installations this autumn are a significant point in the development of the sculpture park."

O’Dwyer's 'Regeneration' sculpture is described as a "a powerful symbol of renewal, resilience, and the hopeful possibilities of the future," and it rises six metres (20 feet) into the open Offaly sky.

"Lough Boora is a place where art, ecology, and memory intersect," said O'Dwyer. "Regeneration is both a tribute to the resilience of this landscape and a reminder that renewal is possible—in nature."

His 'Light as a Feather' sculpture, meanwhile, is "a striking minimalist sculpture... suspended with quiet elegance above the canal in Lough Boora Discovery Park."
