Award-winning choreographer brings new show Crystal Cloud to Tullamore

Renowned choreographer and Aosdána member Fiona Quilligan brings her stunning new production Crystal Cloud to Esker Arts Centre, Tullamore, on Friday November 14 at 8pm.

Dublin-born and trained at the London School of Contemporary Dance, Fiona performed with Dublin City Ballet before founding Rubato Ballet in 1986, creating acclaimed original works that earned the Nijinsky Medal (Warsaw) and the AIB Better Ireland Award.

A founding member of Dance Ireland and graduate of the University of Limerick (MA Performance), Fiona’s work has long shaped Ireland’s contemporary dance landscape.

Her many creations for Project Arts Centre include Signals, Live Sax, A Close Shave and Casts and Conversations. Her 2022 film Ancestor premiered at the Irish Film Institute, featured on RTÉ Player, and was recently added to the Filmmakers Coop NYC catalogue.

Now, Fiona brings Crystal Cloud to Tullamore, a captivating fusion of film and live performance featuring dancers Olwen Grindley, Yves Lorrhan and Eoin Macdonncha.

The performance takes audiences on a sensory journey along the river, through sunlight, shadow, reflection and hope, capturing the beauty and fragility of nature and humanity.

Sometimes dark, always luminous, Crystal Cloud reveals the fractured light that spills into our lives as we dance a rainbow of colour.
