Flash flooding in Offaly affects several roads and villages
Reports of flash flooding have emerged in several areas of Offaly after heavy rain fell yesterday evening (Wednesday).
Locals appealed for sandbags to prevent further flooding of their homes, as severe rain affected areas including Ballycumber, Clara, Raheen, Geashill, and Tullamore.
Road users are urged to take caution, with reports of rivers overflowing along the Roscrea to Birr road at the Offaly/Tipperary border and severe flooding in Moneygall village.
Cllr Frank Moran and Cllr Peter Ormond confirmed that Offaly County Council engineers attended several sites yesterday evening in response to the flooding.
