Clendennen confirms balancing payments to farmers in Offaly
Deputy John Clendennen has welcomed the confirmation from Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon, that balancing payments under the 2025 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS), Complementary Redistribution Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS), and Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) schemes have now commenced, alongside payments under the Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (CISYF).
Deputy Clendennen confirmed that farmers across Offaly are set to receive a total of €20,538,232 under BISS and CRISS, with 2,701 Offaly farmers benefiting from these vital direct income supports. The balancing payments issued this week form part of the €819 million now delivered nationally under BISS, CRISS and CISYF, ensuring that 98.4% of eligible farmers have received payment.
In addition, €4,931,926 has been paid to 2,285 Offaly farmers under the ANC scheme, contributing to the €241 million issued nationally under ANC in 2025, with over 99% of eligible farmers now paid.
Deputy Clendennen said “These payments are critical to supporting farm families in Offaly, particularly at a time of rising input costs and ongoing challenges within the sector. The BISS, CRISS and ANC schemes are central pillars of income stability for farmers, and today’s payments reaffirm the Government’s commitment to sustaining a resilient and viable farming community across rural Ireland.”
Welcoming the commencement of payments under the Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (CISYF), with €793,000 going to 147 young farmers in Offaly as part of the €32 million national allocation, Deputy Clendennen added, “Supporting the next generation of farmers is essential for the long-term sustainability of our local agricultural sector. I am pleased to see young farmers in Offaly benefitting from enhanced supports that will help them build a strong foundation for the future.”
